To Prosper is Much More than a Financial Accomplishment
With the end of the final quarter of the year in sight, let’s focus on our final word in our motto, LEARN, GROW, ACHIEVE and PROSPER. After all, aren’t we all trying to finish the year strong and make 2017 a prosperous year?
We can’t pursue a prosperous life without first defining our terms. To PROSPER is to be successful or to thrive. Many will tell you that prosperity is all about financial accomplishment. While that’s certainly an important marker for success in business, there’s more to prosperity than your bank account balance or net worth.
I’d like to challenge you to think about how to prosper in a wider range of areas of life. There are many ways that you can prosper in addition to financial attainment which will improve your quality of life greatly and make you feel rich in the fullest sense. Here are my top three:
- Your view of yourself – Have you ever thought of yourself as a hero? Many folks don’t consider themselves to be hero material, but if you add value to a person’s life or improve a situation, you are a hero. “A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles,” noted Christopher Reeve. He continues, “A hero is someone who, in spite of weakness, doubt or not always knowing the answers, goes ahead and overcomes anyway.” I believe that we can all be our own hero, and I would love to talk to you about how to increase your prosperity by identifying the HERO in YOU.
- Your relationships – People skills are a set of soft skills that many overlook as a priority. However, for you to prosper, it is an area of expertise that you must recognize and expand. Knowing how to build a relationship, consider a person’s background and culture, and communicate most effectively are keys in today’s global work environment. When you develop these skills, you will prosper as evidenced by the increased number of repeat and new clients. Because you value your relationships and treat your clients with respect, for many, you will soon call your clients friends as well.
- Your mindset – Mindset is a particular way of thinking – a person’s attitude, beliefs or opinions about the world, experiences, and relationships, including how you perceive and relate to yourself. To PROSPER, your mindset must stay positive even in challenging times. Celebrate success, large or small, and in doing so, you create confidence in yourself. Have pride in your accomplishments. Remind yourself that you are deserving of success, and that no one can hold you back but you. Plan to Prosper.
