5 Ways to Live Your Best Life in Your Professional Life

5 Ways to Live Your Best Life in Your Professional LifeOf all of the entrepreneurs and business owners I’ve ever talked to, I can’t think of a single one who wasn’t motivated by their desire to live a better life.

Whether it’s setting your own hours, taking on new opportunities, working from the comfort of home, or being your own boss, leaving the safety of a traditional 9 to 5 job stems at least in part by wanting to live your best life now.

And yet, what I find when I talk to Celeste Giordano Coaching clients is a common thread that you might find familiar too… As you push yourself day in and day out to grow your business, it’s easy to lose track of why you’re doing it.

When late nights lead to early mornings, or too many meetings or prospecting calls leave you feeling frazzled, remember why you’re taking these actions: to live the best life you can, be true to yourself and your beliefs, and share your successes with those who mean the most to you.

Easier said than done, right?

That’s why it’s helpful to have foundations or cornerstones to keep your professional life meaningful on the difficult days as well as the easy ones.

Here are 5 cornerstones of living your best life that can be applied to your professional life just as well as your personal life. I encourage you to take note and ask yourself if these foundations feature prominently in your business life. If not, I’ve included tips to incorporate each into your day starting today.

1. Productivity

It might seem like it goes without saying that productivity is essential to your business life. And yet, many entrepreneurs find themselves so bogged down with the day to day work of running a business that they forget the act of producing something is what got them into business in the first place.

If you aren’t producing, doing, achieving, and trying your hand at new things, you’ll be hard pressed to find real happiness at work. When we produce, we thrive; when we fail to produce, we crumble under the weight of disappointment and regret.

Producing results will inevitably leave you feeling a sense of accomplishment that makes life more rewarding, and indeed, worth living.

Start today: Identify 3 measurable tasks you can conquer consistently in your business each day. More importantly, stick to your plan with the help of an accountability partner. Following your plan will create a sense of accomplishment, boost your confidence, and create forward momentum that will motivate you throughout your week.

2. Relationships

I make a point of thinking of all business relationships as friendships, whether with clients, colleagues, employees, contractors, or collaborators. In that mindset, you’ll take care of your work relationships the same way you do your personal relationships.

It’s true in life and in business: Great friends are worth their weight in gold. They offer an unbelievable support system that can get you through the greatest challenges. True friends see you for who you are, and love you nonetheless.

Start today: Don’t make the mistake of believing business relationships will naturally sustain themselves. Work at developing your friendships and never take them for granted. Reflect on your professional friendships and ask yourself if you’re a giver or a taker. Real friendships are reciprocal, with each partner giving and taking.

Try to identify ways to support your friends. You can do this by making a point of checking in with them regularly, asking them about their career and goals, and referring them business whenever you have the opportunity.

3. Culture and Tradition

There’s a saying that the beauty of the world lies in the diversity of its people. For many people, cultural traditions are integral to their identity and vitality. Many of our cultures leave us attached to meaningful traditions, different languages, unique forms of dress, vibrant music, ethnic foods, and beautiful ceremonies.

Making your culture and traditions a part of your professional life can be energizing and remind you who you are and where you come from. Sharing pieces of your culture with professional contacts is sharing a part of who you are, and can provide a new way to connect with others.

Start today: Make time for the aspects of culture that speak to you and share those cultural experiences with your peers and clients. Whether you bring your tradition to your profession by hosting a themed event or making reference to your cultural interests in your professional bio, or bring your profession to your tradition by volunteering or making your services available to your cultural community, merging the two will add to the vibrancy of your life.

4. Spirituality

Your spirituality is the foundation that guides your values, and your values dictate (or at least they ought to dictate) the choices you make in every aspect of your life, including your profession.

In addition to a moral compass, belief in something greater can provide a sense of peace that once you’ve made your best effort, God will lead you where you’re meant to go.

Start today: Be true to your beliefs and surround yourself with professionals who share your core values. When you do business with people whose values reflect your own, you’ll have greater peace of mind that you’ll be dealt with respectfully, honestly, and honorably.

5 Ways to Live Your Best Life in Your Professional Life5. Opportunity and Adventure

Living your best life involves making your best effort to seize the opportunities you see before you. Yes, it’s important to be sensible and responsible, but push yourself to experience all that you can because it’s equally important to capitalize on all the business opportunities you can, and create your own opportunities.

Start today: Attend networking events regularly, introduce yourself confidently, and follow up consistently. You can’t sell yourself or your services to people you have no relationship with, and you can’t build relationships if you aren’t getting in front of new people on a daily basis.

At Celeste Giordano Coaching, I teach my clients the strategies, mindset, and formulas they need to know to build a Legacy Business and live their best life, at and outside the office.
