Your Mindset is Everything: 4 Ways to Strengthen It Starting Today
It’s easy to feel powerless during this challenging time.
You might be depressed about missing events or how this crisis has changed the way you spend your time. You might be stressed about paying the bills. You might be afraid you or someone you love is going to get sick.
While you don’t have the power to prevent people getting sick or economic hardship, you do have power over your mind. And your mind presents you with two choices: you can struggle and allow yourself to get stuck in a negative mindset, or you can choose to persevere and take on a positive mindset.
The choice you make has real consequences for your life. Negativity weakens you. The challenges – rather than only taking place out in the world – start to take place in your mind as well. If you’ve felt overwhelmed, distracted, or defeated, that’s the power of negative thinking.
It’s important that you shift your perspective to a positive frame of mind. The problems we face are big enough without your mindset being one of them.
I can tell you that time and time again, doors that my Celeste Giordano Coaching clients never dreamed would open have opened when they embrace a mindset shift.
“You can’t think defeat and have victory. You can’t think weakness and have strength.” –Joel Osteen
Stop telling yourself what you can’t do… “I’m dreading several more weeks or months of this.” “I can’t handle another day at home like this.” “My business won’t recover from this.” If you tell yourself you can’t do it, you’ll prove yourself right.
Shift your focus to positivity, courage, and determination… “This virus may be bad, but I have the strength to handle it.” “It might not be easy to stay at home, but I can and will do so.” “Businesses may be hurting, but I will come out of this with resilience.”
Why do our minds dwell on fear, worry, and negativity? In part, the answer comes from human nature. But it also comes down to habit. We get in the habit of thinking negative thoughts and sooner or later, we see the catastrophe in everything.
For example, most people will focus on how big the problem is. It’s a minority that is willing to think past the problem and look for the solution. If you want to turn difficulty into opportunity, you’ve got to be one of the few people focused on positive solutions. You can’t reach your potential by thinking negative, limiting beliefs.
If you work on your mindset, your trials and tribulations will become the very things that transition you to the next level in your business and all areas of your life.
Here are 4 ways to shift to a positive mindset, even in these difficult times.
- Decide on your mindset at the start of the day. Set your day for being up to the challenge, and for conquering what comes your way before you ever look at the news, greet your loved ones, or send that first email.
- Express your gratitude. Give thanks for what you have, feel the abundance in your life, and have faith in what God is sending your way.
- Tune out the negativity. Watch the news but then turn it off. Call the loved ones, but if they start dragging you down, tell them you’ll talk to them tomorrow. Then take a moment to shift back to a positive, abundant, healthy mindset.
- Don’t cower in defeat. Now is the time to build your confidence and skills that may lead to new opportunities down the road. Take a class to learn something new. Join an online mastermind. Take up a new exercise habit. Use this time to better yourself in whatever way you can. And focus on the victory we will feel when this virus is behind us and we can come together as a nation.
Even in challenging times, doors can open for you that you never thought possible when you embrace a positive mindset. You will find strength you didn’t know you had. If you want a mentor to guide you to a positive mindset to weather this storm, contact me today.
