Ready to dig back in again?

September has only just begun but with the leaves changing, somehow summer seems a thousand miles away. I may love the summer sunshine, but I’m grateful for the changing seasons. They help trigger a reminder that time is passing, and offer an opportunity to pause, reflect and regroup.

With four months left in the year, now is the time to honestly ask yourself: Am I “on track” to achieve my personal and business goals? If not, what adjustments can I make to achieve my 2014 goals?

Over the summer, you may have slowed down, eased the reigns and coasted along, but with fall upon us, it’s the prime time to dig deep and get back into ACTION work mode. With determination, consistency and the right attitude, you can still finish the year strong and achieve real success.

Dig DeeperBefore you can bounce back this fall, it’s best to look inwards. Are you the type of person you need to be in order to get the results you’re striving for?

Take A Good Long Look In The Mirror

One thing’s for certain: For better or worse, your actions reflect your character. In fact, your character can be the difference between brilliant success and disappointing failure both in your personal and professional life.

Zig Ziglar sums it up best: “People do not care how much you know until they know how much you care.” Do you consistently demonstrate that you genuinely care for people? You may offer outstanding products or services, but that matters very little if people don’t want to do business with you.

So, how can you make sure you’re the kind of person people want to work with? Become a center of excellence by ensuring that you approach everything you do with honesty, integrity and a positive attitude.

Good natured, friendly people have a head start in the world of business. Why? Simply put, people surround themselves with positive, respectful people. When individuals come across professionals who seem to always have a chip on their shoulder or a bone to pick, they often head straight in the other direction. And those who don’t wish they had! So, be a people magnet!

If you work on becoming a genuine, reliable and positive person, you’ll begin to consistently attract people into your life – from lasting friends to lucrative clients.

Take the High Road

Treat everyone with respect, even those who aren’t respectful to you. Make no mistake – this isn’t always easy. But when you take the high road, you shine with great integrity. When your kindness, patience and integrity drive your actions, you’re on a road to true and lasting success. Let your actions do the talking, because people believe what they see and experience first-hand. Who you are in your personal life is who you are in your business life.

As the weather changes, I find the following metaphor appropriate. In life you have two choices. You can be a thermometer. Thermometers don’t affect change; they simply measure the temperature. Thermostats on the other hand have the power to affect change and make a positive impact. So, I challenge you to be a thermostat. Want to achieve real success in your business? Then strive to positively impact people by maintaining a 212 degree attitude and taking decisive actions.
